The Rose Raglan Button Up is a fun take on an over-sized classic men’s shirt. It has raglan sleeves, and instead of a classic back yoke, the yoke is part of the sleeve. You have the option of a classic two piece collar or a convertible one piece collar, curved hem, or a banded straight hem, and pleated sleeves or wide sleeves. You can mix and match between the different views as you like. Instead of a traditional sleeve placket, the slit sits in the sleeve seam. The flat felled seams mean that you will be able to see topstitching, so you can choose either matching or contrasting thread.
This pattern will teach you some fun techniques including:
✿ Flat felled seams without a special presser foot
✿ Grown-on sleeve placket with flat felled seams
✿ How to sew a collar and collar stand (View A)
✿ How to sew a convertible collar and attach it to the neckline in a super clean way—without using a facing. (View B)
✿ How to attach a cuff
FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS
This pattern is made for woven fabrics. The look and feel of the shirt will change a lot depending on the fabric you choose. Something light like cotton lawn or seersucker will make the perfect beach cover-up or pajama top. Something mid-weight like linen, chambray, or cotton poplin will make a gorgeous everyday shirt. Flannel would make it a cozy over-shirt, and you could even make it in denim or canvas for more of a jacket feel.

I love my Rose Raglan top! So stylish and comfortable. It is my first choice shirt in my closet now! I can't wait to make another one... or two or three!
The pattern was very well written and I could follow it easily. I love how it turned out!
I love the design and fit of this buttonup, but 1/2” SA for flat-felled seams was way, way too finicky. I can’t imagine trying to sew this in any fabric that frays a lot. I wouldn’t even consider myself a beginner, I’ve sewn jeans that I love and a variety of shirts and dresses, but this takes the cake on being the trickiest thing I’ve made. I’m a little disappointed in this pattern given how lovely all other patterns I've tried from this designer are, which is such a bummer because it really is such a cute shirt. Giving three stars for the design.
Edit to add: if anyone else struggles like me I'd recommend the "encase and baste" technique for the seams, where you baste after encasing the trimmed raw edge! It fixed the frustrations I was having.
Will start working on this any day now..:)
This is a beautiful pattern. I was sort of in between sizes and I decided to size up, so mine is very oversized, which I don't really mind. The instructions are so detailed, great for beginners who want to delve into button ups! I had a small question and got an answer very quickly, the pattern designer was so helpful!! Will definitely make this again (but definitely in a cotton, first version I made was viscose which was a but slippery).
